Lakedisrict Down

Although its been 3 months since I last wrote a post, I find myself sat here proud that I have just completed the below course. The Lake District event had nothing on me as I completed it within 9 hours and 11 minutes.

Cycling in the rain

51miles hilly

Now a lots happened in the last few months since I started cycling but I’ve not discovered anything more character building than what me and Alexandra did yesterday. With a weather forecast of light rain and heavy showers we decided to head out on the 52mile bike ride I laid on for us both 8 [...]

The Cow and Calf

Alexandra at Cow and Calf

Now for some reason and I have no idea why, Alexandra decided on Tuesday that it would be a great idea to ride out to Ilkley and begin the climb upto the Cow and Calf. Now for those that don’t know, the Cow and Calf is the highest pub up in Ilkley and at the [...]

Going out with a club

Club Ride

Now we’ve come across a few different clubs when we were out and about but the one that made the strongest impression were the Seacroft Wheelers when we came across them back in Burnsall when I was only 4 weeks into cycling. I first made some enquiries around different clubs in the area at the start of [...]

I’ve been naughty!!!

51miles hilly

Now considering the fact that the furthest I had done before today was 42miles that actually ended after 34 miles with my first puncture I was keen to capitalise on the work that we have put in over the last 4 week and see what we could actually achieve. The Course The route that I [...]

Up until today we have been off for 8 days and we have done just over 150 miles over 6 separate rides. First ride The first ride occurred on a Thursday evening [...]

Do we really need additional cycling legislation?

Cyclists on the road

Since I started cycling I really have been going at it seriously, not only cycling but reading as much as I can too, so I took an interest in an article on the BBC by Jon Kelly entitled “Is Cycling Dangerous“. The jist of the article is that an MP that is obviously looking to [...]

A sunny Sunday afternoon in the Yorkshire Dales

The morning started in a very good way with my Tanita body composition monitor reporting my body weight at 107.6 Kg’s, the lowest I’d been since last summer and 3 Kg’s lighter than when I bought the bike almost 4 weeks ago. After a relatively easy ride yesterday morning we were out with Rachael and [...]

An easy morning, 2 falls, sunshine and scenery

image

The plan for this morning was simple, Alex wasn’t feeling her best, we have a big ride with some of her friends tomorrow, but as the image above shows, there was a distinct lack of clouds in the sky, so we couldn’t really pass the opportunity up. So the plan was to go out for [...]
